تَنْزِیْلُ
tanzīlu
(The) revelation
ك-ت-ب

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
الْكِتٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
م-ن
![]()
مِنَ
مِنَ
mina
(is) from
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ع-ز-ز
![]()
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
الْعَزِیْزِ
l-ʿazīzi
the All-Mighty,
ح-ك-م
![]()
ٱلۡحَكِيمِ
الْحَكِیْمِ
l-ḥakīmi
the All-Wise.
The revelation of the Book is from God, the Mighty, the Wise:

Indeed, We

to you

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
الْكِتٰبَ
l-kitāba
the Book
ح-ق-ق

بِٱلۡحَقِّ
بِالْحَقِّ
bil-ḥaqi
in truth;
ع-ب-د
![]()
فَٱعۡبُدِ
فَاعْبُدِ
fa-uʿ'budi
so worship
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
خ-ل-ص
![]()
مُخۡلِصٗا
مُخْلِصًا
mukh'liṣan
(being) sincere
ل
![]()
لَّهُ
لَّهُ
lahu
to Him
د-ي-ن
![]()
ٱلدِّينَ
الدِّیْنَ
d-dīna
(in) the religion.
for We have revealed the Book to you in truth; so serve God sincerely in your way of life.

Unquestionably,
ا-ل-ه

لِلَّهِ

for Allah
د-ي-ن

(is) the religion
خ-ل-ص

ٱلۡخَالِصُۚ
الْخَالِصُ ؕ—
l-khāliṣu
the pure.
ا-ل-ل-ذ
![]()
وَٱلَّذِينَ
وَالَّذِیْنَ
wa-alladhīna
And those who
ا-خ-ذ
![]()
ٱتَّخَذُواْ
اتَّخَذُوْا
ittakhadhū
take
م-ن
![]()
مِن
مِنْ
min
besides Him
د-و-ن
![]()
دُونِهِۦٓ
دُوْنِهٖۤ
dūnihi
besides Him
و-ل-ي
![]()
أَوۡلِيَآءَ
اَوْلِیَآءَ ۘ—
awliyāa
protectors,
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
"Not
ع-ب-د
![]()
نَعۡبُدُهُمۡ
نَعْبُدُهُمْ
naʿbuduhum
we worship them
ا-ل-ل-ا
![]()
إِلَّا
اِلَّا
illā
except
ق-ر-ب
![]()
لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ
لِیُقَرِّبُوْنَاۤ
liyuqarribūnā
that they may bring us near
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَى
اِلَی
ilā
to
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
Allah
ز-ل-ف
![]()
زُلۡفَىٰٓ
زُلْفٰی ؕ—
zul'fā
(in) nearness."
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّ
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
ح-ك-م
![]()
يَحۡكُمُ
یَحْكُمُ
yaḥkumu
will judge
ب-ي-ن
![]()
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
بَیْنَهُمْ
baynahum
between them
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِیْ
fī
in
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
what
ه-م
![]()
هُمۡ
هُمْ
hum
they
ف-ي
![]()
فِيهِ
فِیْهِ
fīhi
[in it]
خ-ل-ف
![]()
يَخۡتَلِفُونَۗ
یَخْتَلِفُوْنَ ؕ۬—
yakhtalifūna
differ.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّ
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(does) not
ه-د-ي
![]()
يَهۡدِي
یَهْدِیْ
yahdī
guide
م-ن
![]()
مَنۡ
مَنْ
man
(one) who
ه-و
![]()
هُوَ
هُوَ
huwa
[he]
ك-ذ-ب
![]()
كَٰذِبٞ
كٰذِبٌ
kādhibun
(is) a liar
ك-ف-ر
![]()
كَفَّارٞ
كَفَّارٌ
kaffārun
and a disbeliever.
Is it not to God that sincere obedience is due? Yet those who take protectors other than God say, “We only worship them that they may draw us nearer to God.” God will judge between them as to their differences. For God does not guide any lying ingrate.

وَلَدٗا
وَلَدًا
waladan
a son,
ص-ف-و

لَّٱصۡطَفَىٰ
لَّاصْطَفٰی
la-iṣ'ṭafā
surely, He (could) have chosen
م-م-ا
![]()
مِمَّا
مِمَّا
mimmā
from what
خ-ل-ق
![]()
يَخۡلُقُ
یَخْلُقُ
yakhluqu
He creates
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
whatever
ش-ي-ا
![]()
يَشَآءُۚ
یَشَآءُ ۙ—
yashāu
He willed.
س-ب-ح
![]()
سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥۖ
سُبْحٰنَهٗ ؕ—
sub'ḥānahu
Glory be to Him!
ه-و
![]()
هُوَ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهُ
اللّٰهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
و-ح-د
![]()
ٱلۡوَٰحِدُ
الْوَاحِدُ
l-wāḥidu
the One,
ق-ه-ر
![]()
ٱلۡقَهَّارُ
الْقَهَّارُ
l-qahāru
the Irresistible.
If God wanted to have a son, God could have chosen from creation at will. Glory to God! It is God the One, the Omnipotent,

السَّمٰوٰتِ
s-samāwāti
the heavens

وَالْاَرْضَ
wal-arḍa
and the earth
ح-ق-ق

بِٱلۡحَقِّۖ
بِالْحَقِّ ۚ—
bil-ḥaqi
in [the] truth.
ك-و-ر

يُكَوِّرُ
یُكَوِّرُ
yukawwiru
He wraps
ل-ي-ل
![]()
ٱلَّيۡلَ
الَّیْلَ
al-layla
the night
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَى
عَلَی
ʿalā
over
ن-ه-ر
![]()
ٱلنَّهَارِ
النَّهَارِ
n-nahāri
the day
ك-و-ر
![]()
وَيُكَوِّرُ
وَیُكَوِّرُ
wayukawwiru
and wraps
ن-ه-ر
![]()
ٱلنَّهَارَ
النَّهَارَ
n-nahāra
the day
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَى
عَلَی
ʿalā
over
ل-ي-ل
![]()
ٱلَّيۡلِۖ
الَّیْلِ
al-layli
the night.
س-خ-ر
![]()
وَسَخَّرَ
وَسَخَّرَ
wasakhara
And He subjected
ش-م-س
![]()
ٱلشَّمۡسَ
الشَّمْسَ
sh-shamsa
the sun
ق-م-ر
![]()
وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ
وَالْقَمَرَ ؕ—
wal-qamara
and the moon,
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلّٞ
كُلٌّ
kullun
each
ج-ر-ي
![]()
يَجۡرِي
یَّجْرِیْ
yajrī
running
ا-ج-ل
![]()
لِأَجَلٖ
لِاَجَلٍ
li-ajalin
for a term
س-م-و
![]()
مُّسَمًّىۗ
مُّسَمًّی ؕ—
musamman
specified.
ل-ا
![]()
أَلَا
اَلَا
alā
Unquestionably,
ه-و
![]()
هُوَ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ع-ز-ز
![]()
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
الْعَزِیْزُ
l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty,
غ-ف-ر
![]()
ٱلۡغَفَّٰرُ
الْغَفَّارُ
l-ghafāru
the Oft-Forgiving.
who created the skies and the earth fittingly, wrapping the night over the day and wrapping the day over the night, compelling the sun and the moon, each coursing for a definite term. Is this God not the epitome of power and forgiveness?

He made

from it
ز-و-ج

زَوۡجَهَا
زَوْجَهَا
zawjahā
its mate.
ن-ز-ل

وَأَنزَلَ
وَاَنْزَلَ
wa-anzala
And He sent down
ل
![]()
لَكُم
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
م-ن
![]()
مِّنَ
مِّنَ
mina
of
ن-ع-م
![]()
ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ
الْاَنْعَامِ
l-anʿāmi
the cattle
ث-م-ن
![]()
ثَمَٰنِيَةَ
ثَمٰنِیَةَ
thamāniyata
eight
ز-و-ج
![]()
أَزۡوَٰجٖۚ
اَزْوَاجٍ ؕ—
azwājin
kinds.
خ-ل-ق
![]()
يَخۡلُقُكُمۡ
یَخْلُقُكُمْ
yakhluqukum
He creates you
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِیْ
fī
in
ب-ط-ن
![]()
بُطُونِ
بُطُوْنِ
buṭūni
(the) wombs
ا-م-م
![]()
أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ
اُمَّهٰتِكُمْ
ummahātikum
(of) your mothers,
خ-ل-ق
![]()
خَلۡقٗا
خَلْقًا
khalqan
creation
م-ن
![]()
مِّنۢ
مِّنْ
min
after
ب-ع-د
![]()
بَعۡدِ
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
خ-ل-ق
![]()
خَلۡقٖ
خَلْقٍ
khalqin
creation,
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِیْ
fī
in
ظ-ل-م
![]()
ظُلُمَٰتٖ
ظُلُمٰتٍ
ẓulumātin
darkness[es]
ث-ل-ث
![]()
ثَلَٰثٖۚ
ثَلٰثٍ ؕ—
thalāthin
three.
ذ-ل-ك
![]()
ذَٰلِكُمُ
ذٰلِكُمُ
dhālikumu
That
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهُ
اللّٰهُ
l-lahu
(is) Allah
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبُّكُمۡ
رَبُّكُمْ
rabbukum
your Lord;
ل
![]()
لَهُ
لَهُ
lahu
for Him
م-ل-ك
![]()
ٱلۡمُلۡكُۖ
الْمُلْكُ ؕ—
l-mul'ku
(is) the dominion.
ل-ا
![]()
لَآ
لَاۤ
lā
(There is) no
ا-ل-ه
![]()
إِلَٰهَ
اِلٰهَ
ilāha
god
ا-ل-ل-ا
![]()
إِلَّا
اِلَّا
illā
except
ه-و
![]()
هُوَۖ
هُوَ ۚ—
huwa
He.
ا-ن-ن-ي
![]()
فَأَنَّىٰ
فَاَنّٰی
fa-annā
Then how
ص-ر-ف
![]()
تُصۡرَفُونَ
تُصْرَفُوْنَ
tuṣ'rafūna
are you turning away?
God created you from one soul, then made its mate from it; and sent you livestock, eight in pairs. God creates you inside your mothers, in successive formations, in three darknesses. That is God for you, your Lord, to whom belongs the dominion. There is no other God; so how are you diverted?

غَنِیٌّ
ghaniyyun
(is) free from need
ع-ن

عَنكُمۡۖ
عَنْكُمْ ۫—
ʿankum
of you.
ل-ا
![]()
وَلَا
وَلَا
walā
And not
ر-ض-و
![]()
يَرۡضَىٰ
یَرْضٰی
yarḍā
He likes
ع-ب-د
![]()
لِعِبَادِهِ
لِعِبَادِهِ
liʿibādihi
in His slaves
ك-ف-ر
![]()
ٱلۡكُفۡرَۖ
الْكُفْرَ ۚ—
l-kuf'ra
ungratefulness.
ا-ن
![]()
وَإِن
وَاِنْ
wa-in
And if
ش-ك-ر
![]()
تَشۡكُرُواْ
تَشْكُرُوْا
tashkurū
you are grateful
ر-ض-و
![]()
يَرۡضَهُ
یَرْضَهُ
yarḍahu
He likes it
ل
![]()
لَكُمۡۗ
لَكُمْ ؕ—
lakum
in you.
ل-ا
![]()
وَلَا
وَلَا
walā
And not
و-ز-ر
![]()
تَزِرُ
تَزِرُ
taziru
will bear
و-ز-ر
![]()
وَازِرَةٞ
وَازِرَةٌ
wāziratun
bearer of burdens
و-ز-ر
![]()
وِزۡرَ
وِّزْرَ
wiz'ra
(the) burden
ا-خ-ر
![]()
أُخۡرَىٰۚ
اُخْرٰی ؕ—
ukh'rā
(of) another.
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَىٰ
اِلٰی
ilā
to
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبِّكُم
رَبِّكُمْ
rabbikum
your Lord
ر-ج-ع
![]()
مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ
مَّرْجِعُكُمْ
marjiʿukum
(is) your return,
ن-ب-ا
![]()
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
فَیُنَبِّئُكُمْ
fayunabbi-ukum
then He will inform you
ب-م-ا
![]()
بِمَا
بِمَا
bimā
about what
ك-و-ن
![]()
كُنتُمۡ
كُنْتُمْ
kuntum
you used to
ع-م-ل
![]()
تَعۡمَلُونَۚ
تَعْمَلُوْنَ ؕ—
taʿmalūna
do.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّهُۥ
اِنَّهٗ
innahu
Indeed, He
ع-ل-م
![]()
عَلِيمُۢ
عَلِیْمٌۢ
ʿalīmun
(is) the All-Knower
ذ-و
![]()
بِذَاتِ
بِذَاتِ
bidhāti
of what (is) in the breasts.
ص-د-ر
![]()
ٱلصُّدُورِ
الصُّدُوْرِ
ṣ-ṣudūri
of what (is) in the breasts.
If you disbelieve, God is independent of you, yet does not prefer disbelief in servants. And if you are grateful, God prefers that for you. And no one who takes responsibility can bear the burden of another. And then you will return to God, who will tell you what you were doing, for God knows what is in hearts.

turning

إِلَيۡهِ
اِلَیْهِ
ilayhi
to Him;
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
ا-ذ-ا

إِذَا
اِذَا
idhā
when
خ-و-ل

خَوَّلَهُۥ
خَوَّلَهٗ
khawwalahu
He bestows on him
ن-ع-م

نِعۡمَةٗ
نِعْمَةً
niʿ'matan
a favor
م-ن

مِّنۡهُ
مِّنْهُ
min'hu
from Himself,
ن-س-ي

نَسِيَ
نَسِیَ
nasiya
he forgets
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
(for) what
ك-و-ن
![]()
كَانَ
كَانَ
kāna
he used to call
د-ع-و

يَدۡعُوٓاْ
یَدْعُوْۤا
yadʿū
he used to call
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَيۡهِ
اِلَیْهِ
ilayhi
[to] Him
م-ن
![]()
مِن
مِنْ
min
before,
ق-ب-ل
![]()
قَبۡلُ
قَبْلُ
qablu
before,
ج-ع-ل
![]()
وَجَعَلَ
وَجَعَلَ
wajaʿala
and he sets up
ا-ل-ه

لِلَّهِ
لِلّٰهِ
lillahi
to Allah
ن-د-د

أَندَادٗا
اَنْدَادًا
andādan
rivals
ض-ل-ل
![]()
لِّيُضِلَّ
لِّیُضِلَّ
liyuḍilla
to mislead
ع-ن
![]()
عَن
عَنْ
ʿan
from
س-ب-ل
![]()
سَبِيلِهِۦۚ
سَبِیْلِهٖ ؕ—
sabīlihi
His Path.
ق-و-ل

قُلۡ
قُلْ
qul
Say,
م-ت-ع
![]()
تَمَتَّعۡ
تَمَتَّعْ
tamattaʿ
"Enjoy
ك-ف-ر
![]()
بِكُفۡرِكَ
بِكُفْرِكَ
bikuf'rika
in your disbelief
ق-ل-ل
![]()
قَلِيلًا
قَلِیْلًا ۖۗ—
qalīlan
(for) a little.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّكَ
اِنَّكَ
innaka
Indeed, you
م-ن
![]()
مِنۡ
مِنْ
min
(are) of
ص-ح-ب
![]()
أَصۡحَٰبِ
اَصْحٰبِ
aṣḥābi
(the) companions
ن-و-ر
![]()
ٱلنَّارِ
النَّارِ
n-nāri
(of) the Fire."
When trouble afflicts man, he calls to his Lord, turning repentant to God. Then when God bestows favors on man, he forgets who he called to before, imputing peers to God, deflecting from the way of God. Say, “Enjoy your ingratitude a bit; for you’ll be among inmates of the fire.”

(is) devoutly obedient -

(during) hours
ل-ي-ل

ٱلَّيۡلِ
الَّیْلِ
al-layli
(of) the night,
س-ج-د
![]()
سَاجِدٗا
سَاجِدًا
sājidan
prostrating
ق-و-م
![]()
وَقَآئِمٗا
وَّقَآىِٕمًا
waqāiman
and standing,
ح-ذ-ر
![]()
يَحۡذَرُ
یَّحْذَرُ
yaḥdharu
fearing
ا-خ-ر
![]()
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ
الْاٰخِرَةَ
l-ākhirata
the Hereafter
ر-ج-و
![]()
وَيَرۡجُواْ
وَیَرْجُوْا
wayarjū
and hoping
ر-ح-م
![]()
رَحۡمَةَ
رَحْمَةَ
raḥmata
(for the) Mercy
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبِّهِۦۗ
رَبِّهٖ ؕ—
rabbihi
(of) his Lord?
ق-و-ل
![]()
قُلۡ
قُلْ
qul
Say,
ه-ل
![]()
هَلۡ
هَلْ
hal
"Are
س-و-ي
![]()
يَسۡتَوِي
یَسْتَوِی
yastawī
equal
ا-ل-ل-ذ
![]()
ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِیْنَ
alladhīna
those who
ع-ل-م
![]()
يَعۡلَمُونَ
یَعْلَمُوْنَ
yaʿlamūna
know
ا-ل-ل-ذ
![]()
وَٱلَّذِينَ
وَالَّذِیْنَ
wa-alladhīna
and those who
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(do) not
ع-ل-م
![]()
يَعۡلَمُونَۗ
یَعْلَمُوْنَ ؕ—
yaʿlamūna
know?"
ا-ن-ن-م
![]()
إِنَّمَا
اِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
ذ-ك-ر
![]()
يَتَذَكَّرُ
یَتَذَكَّرُ
yatadhakkaru
will take heed
ا-و-ل
![]()
أُوْلُواْ
اُولُوا
ulū
those of understanding.
ل-ب-ب
![]()
ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ
الْاَلْبَابِ
l-albābi
those of understanding.
Is this one who practices devotion in the nighttime, prostrating himself and standing up, heedful of the end, and placing his hopes in the mercy of his Lord? Say, “Are they equal, those who know and those who do not know?” Only those with reason take heed.

"O My slaves

ءَامَنُواْ
اٰمَنُوا
āmanū
believe!
و-ق-ي

ٱتَّقُواْ
اتَّقُوْا
ittaqū
Fear
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبَّكُمۡۚ
رَبَّكُمْ ؕ—
rabbakum
your Lord.

lilladhīna
For those who
ح-س-ن

أَحۡسَنُواْ
اَحْسَنُوْا
aḥsanū
do good
ف-ي

فِي
فِیْ
fī
in
ه-ا-ذ
![]()
هَٰذِهِ
هٰذِهِ
hādhihi
this
د-ن-و
![]()
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
الدُّنْیَا
d-dun'yā
world
ح-س-ن
![]()
حَسَنَةٞۗ
حَسَنَةٌ ؕ—
ḥasanatun
(is) good,
ا-ر-ض
![]()
وَأَرۡضُ
وَاَرْضُ
wa-arḍu
and the earth
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
و-س-ع
![]()
وَٰسِعَةٌۗ
وَاسِعَةٌ ؕ—
wāsiʿatun
(is) spacious.
ا-ن-ن-م
![]()
إِنَّمَا
اِنَّمَا
innamā
Only
و-ف-ي
![]()
يُوَفَّى
یُوَفَّی
yuwaffā
will be paid back in full
ص-ب-ر
![]()
ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ
الصّٰبِرُوْنَ
ṣ-ṣābirūna
the patient ones
ا-ج-ر
![]()
أَجۡرَهُم
اَجْرَهُمْ
ajrahum
their reward
غ-ي-ر
![]()
بِغَيۡرِ
بِغَیْرِ
bighayri
without
ح-س-ب
![]()
حِسَابٖ
حِسَابٍ
ḥisābin
account."
Say, “O devotees, believers! Be conscious of your Lord! For those who do good in this world is good. And God’s earth is wide! Truly the patient will be rewarded, their recompense beyond account.”
