یٰۤاَیُّهَا

O mankind!
ن-و-س

ٱلنَّاسُ
النَّاسُ
n-nāsu
O mankind!
و-ق-ي
![]()
ٱتَّقُواْ
اتَّقُوْا
ittaqū
Fear
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبَّكُمۡۚ
رَبَّكُمْ ۚ—
rabbakum
your Lord.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّ
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
ز-ل-ز-ل
![]()
زَلۡزَلَةَ
زَلْزَلَةَ
zalzalata
(the) convulsion
س-و-ع
![]()
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
السَّاعَةِ
s-sāʿati
(of) the Hour
ش-ي-ا
![]()
شَيۡءٌ
شَیْءٌ
shayon
(is) a thing
ع-ظ-م
![]()
عَظِيمٞ
عَظِیْمٌ
ʿaẓīmun
great.
O humanity, be conscious of your Lord, for the shock of the end of time will be a tremendous thing:

will forget

kullu
every
ر-ض-ع

مُرۡضِعَةٍ
مُرْضِعَةٍ
mur'ḍiʿatin
nursing mother
ع-م-م-ا
![]()
عَمَّآ
عَمَّاۤ
ʿammā
that which
ر-ض-ع
![]()
أَرۡضَعَتۡ
اَرْضَعَتْ
arḍaʿat
she was nursing,
و-ض-ع
![]()
وَتَضَعُ
وَتَضَعُ
wataḍaʿu
and will deliver
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلُّ
كُلُّ
kullu
every
ذ-و
![]()
ذَاتِ
ذَاتِ
dhāti
pregnant woman
ح-م-ل
![]()
حَمۡلٍ
حَمْلٍ
ḥamlin
pregnant woman
ح-م-ل
![]()
حَمۡلَهَا
حَمْلَهَا
ḥamlahā
her load,
ر-ا-ي
![]()
وَتَرَى
وَتَرَی
watarā
and you will see
ن-و-س
![]()
ٱلنَّاسَ
النَّاسَ
n-nāsa
[the] mankind
س-ك-ر
![]()
سُكَٰرَىٰ
سُكٰرٰی
sukārā
intoxicated,
م-ا
![]()
وَمَا
وَمَا
wamā
while not
ه-م
![]()
هُم
هُمْ
hum
they
س-ك-ر
![]()
بِسُكَٰرَىٰ
بِسُكٰرٰی
bisukārā
(are) intoxicated;
ل-ك-ن
![]()
وَلَٰكِنَّ
وَلٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ع-ذ-ب
![]()
عَذَابَ
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ش-د-د
![]()
شَدِيدٞ
شَدِیْدٌ
shadīdun
(will be) severe.
the day you see it, every nursing woman will forget the child she suckles, and every pregnant female will drop its fetus, and you will see the people intoxicated though they are not drunken: but the punishment of God is severe.

disputes

concerning
ا-ل-ه

ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
Allah
غ-ي-ر
![]()
بِغَيۡرِ
بِغَیْرِ
bighayri
without
ع-ل-م
![]()
عِلۡمٖ
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'min
knowledge
ت-ب-ع
![]()
وَيَتَّبِعُ
وَّیَتَّبِعُ
wayattabiʿu
and follows
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلَّ
كُلَّ
kulla
every
ش-ط-ن
![]()
شَيۡطَٰنٖ
شَیْطٰنٍ
shayṭānin
devil
م-ر-د
![]()
مَّرِيدٖ
مَّرِیْدٍ
marīdin
rebellious.
Yet some people dispute about God without knowledge: and they follow every defiant devil,

kutiba
It has been decreed
ع-ل-ي

عَلَيۡهِ
عَلَیْهِ
ʿalayhi
for him
ا-ن-ن

أَنَّهُۥ
اَنَّهٗ
annahu
that he
م-ن
![]()
مَن
مَنْ
man
who
و-ل-ي
![]()
تَوَلَّاهُ
تَوَلَّاهُ
tawallāhu
befriends him,
ا-ن-ن
![]()
فَأَنَّهُۥ
فَاَنَّهٗ
fa-annahu
then indeed, he
ض-ل-ل
![]()
يُضِلُّهُۥ
یُضِلُّهٗ
yuḍilluhu
will misguide him
ه-د-ي
![]()
وَيَهۡدِيهِ
وَیَهْدِیْهِ
wayahdīhi
and will guide him
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَىٰ
اِلٰی
ilā
to
ع-ذ-ب
![]()
عَذَابِ
عَذَابِ
ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
س-ع-ر
![]()
ٱلسَّعِيرِ
السَّعِیْرِ
s-saʿīri
(of) the Blaze.
of whom it is written that he will misguide anyone who puts him in charge, leading him to the torment of the blaze.

doubt

مِّنَ

about
ب-ع-ث

ٱلۡبَعۡثِ
الْبَعْثِ
l-baʿthi
the Resurrection,
ا-ن-ن
![]()
فَإِنَّا
فَاِنَّا
fa-innā
then indeed, We
خ-ل-ق
![]()
خَلَقۡنَٰكُم
خَلَقْنٰكُمْ
khalaqnākum
We created you
م-ن
![]()
مِّن
مِّنْ
min
from
ت-ر-ب
![]()
تُرَابٖ
تُرَابٍ
turābin
dust,
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
م-ن
![]()
مِن
مِنْ
min
from
ن-ط-ف
![]()
نُّطۡفَةٖ
نُّطْفَةٍ
nuṭ'fatin
a semen-drop
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
م-ن
![]()
مِنۡ
مِنْ
min
from
ع-ل-ق
![]()
عَلَقَةٖ
عَلَقَةٍ
ʿalaqatin
a clinging substance
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
م-ن
![]()
مِن
مِنْ
min
from
م-ض-غ
![]()
مُّضۡغَةٖ
مُّضْغَةٍ
muḍ'ghatin
an embryonic lump,
خ-ل-ق
![]()
مُّخَلَّقَةٖ
مُّخَلَّقَةٍ
mukhallaqatin
formed
غ-ي-ر
![]()
وَغَيۡرِ
وَّغَیْرِ
waghayri
and unformed,
خ-ل-ق
![]()
مُخَلَّقَةٖ
مُخَلَّقَةٍ
mukhallaqatin
and unformed,
ب-ي-ن
![]()
لِّنُبَيِّنَ
لِّنُبَیِّنَ
linubayyina
that We may make clear
ل
![]()
لَكُمۡۚ
لَكُمْ ؕ—
lakum
to you.
ق-ر-ر
![]()
وَنُقِرُّ
وَنُقِرُّ
wanuqirru
And We cause to remain
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِی
fī
in
ر-ح-م
![]()
ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ
الْاَرْحَامِ
l-arḥāmi
the wombs
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
what
ش-ي-ا
![]()
نَشَآءُ
نَشَآءُ
nashāu
We will
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَىٰٓ
اِلٰۤی
ilā
for
ا-ج-ل
![]()
أَجَلٖ
اَجَلٍ
ajalin
a term
س-م-و
![]()
مُّسَمّٗى
مُّسَمًّی
musamman
appointed,
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
خ-ر-ج
![]()
نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ
نُخْرِجُكُمْ
nukh'rijukum
We bring you out
ط-ف-ل
![]()
طِفۡلٗا
طِفْلًا
ṭif'lan
(as) a child,
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
[then]
ب-ل-غ
![]()
لِتَبۡلُغُوٓاْ
لِتَبْلُغُوْۤا
litablughū
that you may reach
ش-د-د
![]()
أَشُدَّكُمۡۖ
اَشُدَّكُمْ ۚ—
ashuddakum
[your] maturity.
م-ن
![]()
وَمِنكُم
وَمِنْكُمْ
waminkum
And among you
م-ن
![]()
مَّن
مَّنْ
man
(is he) who
و-ف-ي
![]()
يُتَوَفَّىٰ
یُّتَوَفّٰی
yutawaffā
dies,
م-ن
![]()
وَمِنكُم
وَمِنْكُمْ
waminkum
and among you
م-ن
![]()
مَّن
مَّنْ
man
(is he) who
ر-د-د
![]()
يُرَدُّ
یُّرَدُّ
yuraddu
is returned
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَىٰٓ
اِلٰۤی
ilā
to
ر-ذ-ل
![]()
أَرۡذَلِ
اَرْذَلِ
ardhali
the most abject
ع-م-ر
![]()
ٱلۡعُمُرِ
الْعُمُرِ
l-ʿumuri
age,
ك-ي
![]()
لِكَيۡلَا
لِكَیْلَا
likaylā
so that not
ع-ل-م
![]()
يَعۡلَمَ
یَعْلَمَ
yaʿlama
he knows,
م-ن
![]()
مِنۢ
مِنْ
min
after
ب-ع-د
![]()
بَعۡدِ
بَعْدِ
baʿdi
after
ع-ل-م
![]()
عِلۡمٖ
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'min
having known,
ش-ي-ا
![]()
شَيۡـٔٗاۚ
شَیْـًٔا ؕ—
shayan
anything.
ر-ا-ي
![]()
وَتَرَى
وَتَرَی
watarā
And you see
ا-ر-ض
![]()
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
الْاَرْضَ
l-arḍa
the earth
ه-م-د
![]()
هَامِدَةٗ
هَامِدَةً
hāmidatan
barren
ا-ذ-ا
![]()
فَإِذَآ
فَاِذَاۤ
fa-idhā
then when
ن-ز-ل
![]()
أَنزَلۡنَا
اَنْزَلْنَا
anzalnā
We send down
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَيۡهَا
عَلَیْهَا
ʿalayhā
on it
م-و-ه
![]()
ٱلۡمَآءَ
الْمَآءَ
l-māa
water,
ه-ز-ز
![]()
ٱهۡتَزَّتۡ
اهْتَزَّتْ
ih'tazzat
it gets stirred
ر-ب-و
![]()
وَرَبَتۡ
وَرَبَتْ
warabat
and it swells
ن-ب-ت
![]()
وَأَنۢبَتَتۡ
وَاَنْۢبَتَتْ
wa-anbatat
and grows
م-ن
![]()
مِن
مِنْ
min
of
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلِّ
كُلِّ
kulli
every
ز-و-ج
![]()
زَوۡجِۭ
زَوْجٍ
zawjin
kind
ب-ه-ج
![]()
بَهِيجٖ
بَهِیْجٍ
bahījin
beautiful.
O humanity, if you are in doubt about the resurrection, remember that We created you from dust, then from a drop, then from a clot, then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed, in order to edify you. And We keep in the womb those We wish, up to a designated term; then We bring you out as infants, and enable you to reach your maturity: but some of you will pass away, and some of you will be kept here until the age of senility, such that they know nothing of what they knew before. And you see the earth lifeless, but then We shower water on it, and it stirs and swells and produces every beautiful species.

dhālika
That
ا-ن-ن

بِأَنَّ
بِاَنَّ
bi-anna
(is) because,
ا-ل-ه

ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah -
ه-و
![]()
هُوَ
هُوَ
huwa
He
ح-ق-ق
![]()
ٱلۡحَقُّ
الْحَقُّ
l-ḥaqu
(is) the Truth.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
وَأَنَّهُۥ
وَاَنَّهٗ
wa-annahu
And that He
ح-ي-ي
![]()
يُحۡيِ
یُحْیِ
yuḥ'yī
[He] gives life
م-و-ت
![]()
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ
الْمَوْتٰی
l-mawtā
(to) the dead,
ا-ن-ن
![]()
وَأَنَّهُۥ
وَاَنَّهٗ
wa-annahu
and that He
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَىٰ
عَلٰی
ʿalā
(is) over
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلِّ
كُلِّ
kulli
every
ش-ي-ا
![]()
شَيۡءٖ
شَیْءٍ
shayin
thing
ق-د-ر
![]()
قَدِيرٞ
قَدِیْرٌ
qadīrun
All-Powerful.
That is because God is reality itself, giving life to the dead, in command of all things;

And that
س-و-ع

ٱلسَّاعَةَ
السَّاعَةَ
s-sāʿata
the Hour
ا-ت-ي

ءَاتِيَةٞ
اٰتِیَةٌ
ātiyatun
will come,
ل-ا
![]()
لَّا
لَّا
lā
(there is) no
ر-ي-ب
![]()
رَيۡبَ
رَیْبَ
rayba
doubt
ف-ي
![]()
فِيهَا
فِیْهَا ۙ—
fīhā
about it,
ا-ن-ن
![]()
وَأَنَّ
وَاَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
ب-ع-ث
![]()
يَبۡعَثُ
یَبْعَثُ
yabʿathu
will resurrect
م-ن
![]()
مَن
مَنْ
man
(those) who
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِی
fī
(are) in
ق-ب-ر
![]()
ٱلۡقُبُورِ
الْقُبُوْرِ
l-qubūri
the graves.
and the end of time is coming; there can be no doubt about it; and God will resurrect those in the graves.

Allah

بِغَيۡرِ
بِغَیْرِ
bighayri
without
ع-ل-م

عِلۡمٖ
عِلْمٍ
ʿil'min
any knowledge
ل-ا
![]()
وَلَا
وَّلَا
walā
and not
ه-د-ي
![]()
هُدٗى
هُدًی
hudan
any guidance
ل-ا
![]()
وَلَا
وَّلَا
walā
and not
ك-ت-ب
![]()
كِتَٰبٖ
كِتٰبٍ
kitābin
a Book
ن-و-ر
![]()
مُّنِيرٖ
مُّنِیْرٍ
munīrin
enlightening,
And yet some people still argue about God, without knowledge, without direction, and without enlightening scripture,

Twisting

his neck

لِیُضِلَّ
liyuḍilla
to mislead
ع-ن
![]()
عَن
عَنْ
ʿan
from
س-ب-ل
![]()
سَبِيلِ
سَبِیْلِ
sabīli
(the) way
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِۖ
اللّٰهِ ؕ—
l-lahi
(of) Allah.
ل
![]()
لَهُۥ
لَهٗ
lahu
For him
ف-ي
![]()
فِي
فِی
fī
in
د-ن-و
![]()
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
الدُّنْیَا
d-dun'yā
the world
خ-ز-ي
![]()
خِزۡيٞۖ
خِزْیٌ
khiz'yun
(is) disgrace,
ذ-و-ق
![]()
وَنُذِيقُهُۥ
وَّنُذِیْقُهٗ
wanudhīquhu
and We will make him
ي-و-م
![]()
يَوۡمَ
یَوْمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ق-و-م
![]()
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
الْقِیٰمَةِ
l-qiyāmati
(of) Resurrection
ع-ذ-ب
![]()
عَذَابَ
عَذَابَ
ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
ح-ر-ق
![]()
ٱلۡحَرِيقِ
الْحَرِیْقِ
l-ḥarīqi
(of) the Burning Fire.
turning aside in contempt to deflect from God’s way. They are disgraced in this world, and We will have them taste the torment of burning on the day of resurrection:

That
ب-م-ا

بِمَا
بِمَا
bimā
(is) for what
ق-د-م

قَدَّمَتۡ
قَدَّمَتْ
qaddamat
have sent forth
ي-د-ي
![]()
يَدَاكَ
یَدٰكَ
yadāka
your hands,
ا-ن-ن
![]()
وَأَنَّ
وَاَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
ل-ي-س
![]()
لَيۡسَ
لَیْسَ
laysa
is not
ظ-ل-م
![]()
بِظَلَّٰمٖ
بِظَلَّامٍ
biẓallāmin
unjust
ع-ب-د
![]()
لِّلۡعَبِيدِ
لِّلْعَبِیْدِ
lil'ʿabīdi
to His slaves.
“That is for what you brought about by your own hands—God is not unjust to the servants.”
