ا-ذ-ا

إِذَا
اِذَا
idhā
When
ج-ي-ا
![]()
جَآءَكَ
جَآءَكَ
jāaka
come to you
ن-ف-ق
![]()
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقُونَ
الْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ
l-munāfiqūna
the hypocrites,
ق-و-ل
![]()
قَالُواْ
قَالُوْا
qālū
they say,
ش-ه-د
![]()
نَشۡهَدُ
نَشْهَدُ
nashhadu
"We testify
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّكَ
اِنَّكَ
innaka
that you
ر-س-ل
![]()
لَرَسُولُ
لَرَسُوْلُ
larasūlu
(are) surely (the) Messenger
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِۗ
اللّٰهِ ۘ—
l-lahi
(of) Allah."
ا-ل-ه
![]()
وَٱللَّهُ
وَاللّٰهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
ع-ل-م
![]()
يَعۡلَمُ
یَعْلَمُ
yaʿlamu
knows
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّكَ
اِنَّكَ
innaka
that you
ر-س-ل
![]()
لَرَسُولُهُۥ
لَرَسُوْلُهٗ ؕ—
larasūluhu
(are) surely His Messenger,
ا-ل-ه
![]()
وَٱللَّهُ
وَاللّٰهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
ش-ه-د
![]()
يَشۡهَدُ
یَشْهَدُ
yashhadu
testifies
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّ
اِنَّ
inna
that
ن-ف-ق
![]()
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ
الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
ك-ذ-ب
![]()
لَكَٰذِبُونَ
لَكٰذِبُوْنَ
lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars.
When the hypocrites come to you, they say, “We bear witness that you are indeed the messenger of God.” God knows you are the messenger, and God bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.

ا-خ-ذ

اِتَّخَذُوْۤا
ittakhadhū
They take
ي-م-ن

أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ
اَیْمَانَهُمْ
aymānahum
their oaths
ج-ن-ن
![]()
جُنَّةٗ
جُنَّةً
junnatan
(as) a cover,
ص-د-د
![]()
فَصَدُّواْ
فَصَدُّوْا
faṣaddū
so they turn away
ع-ن
![]()
عَن
عَنْ
ʿan
from
س-ب-ل
![]()
سَبِيلِ
سَبِیْلِ
sabīli
(the) Way
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِۚ
اللّٰهِ ؕ—
l-lahi
(of) Allah.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّهُمۡ
اِنَّهُمْ
innahum
Indeed, [they]
س-و-ا
![]()
سَآءَ
سَآءَ
sāa
evil is
م-ا
![]()
مَا
مَا
mā
what
ك-و-ن
![]()
كَانُواْ
كَانُوْا
kānū
they used to
ع-م-ل
![]()
يَعۡمَلُونَ
یَعْمَلُوْنَ
yaʿmalūna
do.
Taking their oaths as a cover, they interfere with the cause of God; what they’ve been doing is evil indeed.

ذٰلِكَ
dhālika
That
ا-ن-ن

بِأَنَّهُمۡ
بِاَنَّهُمْ
bi-annahum
(is) because
ا-م-ن

ءَامَنُواْ
اٰمَنُوْا
āmanū
they believed,
ث-م-م
![]()
ثُمَّ
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
ك-ف-ر
![]()
كَفَرُواْ
كَفَرُوْا
kafarū
they disbelieved;
ط-ب-ع
![]()
فَطُبِعَ
فَطُبِعَ
faṭubiʿa
so were sealed
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَىٰ
عَلٰی
ʿalā
[upon]
ق-ل-ب
![]()
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
قُلُوْبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts,
ه-م
![]()
فَهُمۡ
فَهُمْ
fahum
so they
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(do) not
ف-ق-ه
![]()
يَفۡقَهُونَ
یَفْقَهُوْنَ
yafqahūna
understand.
That is because they believed but then scoffed, so their hearts were sealed up and they didn’t understand.

And when
ر-ا-ي

رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ
رَاَیْتَهُمْ
ra-aytahum
you see them
ع-ج-ب

تُعۡجِبُكَ
تُعْجِبُكَ
tuʿ'jibuka
pleases you
ج-س-م
![]()
أَجۡسَامُهُمۡۖ
اَجْسَامُهُمْ ؕ—
ajsāmuhum
their bodies,
ا-ن
![]()
وَإِن
وَاِنْ
wa-in
and if
ق-و-ل
![]()
يَقُولُواْ
یَّقُوْلُوْا
yaqūlū
they speak,
س-م-ع
![]()
تَسۡمَعۡ
تَسْمَعْ
tasmaʿ
you listen
ق-و-ل
![]()
لِقَوۡلِهِمۡۖ
لِقَوْلِهِمْ ؕ—
liqawlihim
to their speech,
ك-ا-ن
![]()
كَأَنَّهُمۡ
كَاَنَّهُمْ
ka-annahum
as if they (were)
خ-ش-ب
![]()
خُشُبٞ
خُشُبٌ
khushubun
pieces of wood
س-ن-د
![]()
مُّسَنَّدَةٞۖ
مُّسَنَّدَةٌ ؕ—
musannadatun
propped up.
ح-س-ب
![]()
يَحۡسَبُونَ
یَحْسَبُوْنَ
yaḥsabūna
They think
ك-ل-ل
![]()
كُلَّ
كُلَّ
kulla
every
ص-ي-ح
![]()
صَيۡحَةٍ
صَیْحَةٍ
ṣayḥatin
shout
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَيۡهِمۡۚ
عَلَیْهِمْ ؕ—
ʿalayhim
(is) against them.
ه-م
![]()
هُمُ
هُمُ
humu
They
ع-د-و
![]()
ٱلۡعَدُوُّ
الْعَدُوُّ
l-ʿaduwu
(are) the enemy,
ح-ذ-ر
![]()
فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمۡۚ
فَاحْذَرْهُمْ ؕ—
fa-iḥ'dharhum
so beware of them.
ق-ت-ل
![]()
قَٰتَلَهُمُ
قٰتَلَهُمُ
qātalahumu
May Allah destroy them!
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهُۖ
اللّٰهُ ؗ—
l-lahu
May Allah destroy them!
ا-ن-ن-ي
![]()
أَنَّىٰ
اَنّٰی
annā
How
ا-ف-ك
![]()
يُؤۡفَكُونَ
یُؤْفَكُوْنَ
yu'fakūna
are they deluded?
Though their appearances please you when you see them, and you listen to their words when they speak, it is as if they were propped-up timbers. They think every outcry is against them; they are the enemy, so beware of them. God will fight them; how are they deceived?

And when

it is said
ل

لَهُمۡ
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them,
ع-ل-و

تَعَالَوۡاْ
تَعَالَوْا
taʿālaw
"Come,
غ-ف-ر
![]()
يَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ
یَسْتَغْفِرْ
yastaghfir
will ask forgiveness
ل
![]()
لَكُمۡ
لَكُمْ
lakum
for you
ر-س-ل
![]()
رَسُولُ
رَسُوْلُ
rasūlu
(the) Messenger of Allah."
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(the) Messenger of Allah."
ل-و-ي
![]()
لَوَّوۡاْ
لَوَّوْا
lawwaw
They turn aside
ر-ا-س
![]()
رُءُوسَهُمۡ
رُءُوْسَهُمْ
ruūsahum
their heads
ر-ا-ي
![]()
وَرَأَيۡتَهُمۡ
وَرَاَیْتَهُمْ
wara-aytahum
and you see them
ص-د-د
![]()
يَصُدُّونَ
یَصُدُّوْنَ
yaṣuddūna
turning away
ه-م
![]()
وَهُم
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
ك-ب-ر
![]()
مُّسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
مُّسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ
mus'takbirūna
(are) arrogant.
Even when they are told, “Come, the messenger of God will ask forgiveness for you,” they avert their heads and you see them turn away, as they are arrogant.

sawāon
(It) is same
ع-ل-ي

عَلَيۡهِمۡ
عَلَیْهِمْ
ʿalayhim
for them
غ-ف-ر

أَسۡتَغۡفَرۡتَ
اَسْتَغْفَرْتَ
astaghfarta
whether you ask forgiveness
ل
![]()
لَهُمۡ
لَهُمْ
lahum
for them
ا-م
![]()
أَمۡ
اَمْ
am
or
ل-م
![]()
لَمۡ
لَمْ
lam
(do) not
غ-ف-ر
![]()
تَسۡتَغۡفِرۡ
تَسْتَغْفِرْ
tastaghfir
ask forgiveness
ل
![]()
لَهُمۡ
لَهُمْ ؕ—
lahum
for them.
ل-ن
![]()
لَن
لَنْ
lan
Never
غ-ف-ر
![]()
يَغۡفِرَ
یَّغْفِرَ
yaghfira
will Allah forgive
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهُ
اللّٰهُ
l-lahu
will Allah forgive
ل
![]()
لَهُمۡۚ
لَهُمْ ؕ—
lahum
[to] them.
ا-ن-ن
![]()
إِنَّ
اِنَّ
inna
Indeed,
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهَ
اللّٰهَ
l-laha
Allah
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(does) not
ه-د-ي
![]()
يَهۡدِي
یَهْدِی
yahdī
guide
ق-و-م
![]()
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
الْقَوْمَ
l-qawma
the people,
ف-س-ق
![]()
ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
الْفٰسِقِیْنَ
l-fāsiqīna
the defiantly disobedient.
It is the same to them whether you ask forgiveness for them or not; God will not forgive them. For God is not guiding dissolute people.

They

الَّذِیْنَ
alladhīna
(are) those who
ق-و-ل

يَقُولُونَ
یَقُوْلُوْنَ
yaqūlūna
say,
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
"(Do) not
ن-ف-ق
![]()
تُنفِقُواْ
تُنْفِقُوْا
tunfiqū
spend
ع-ل-ي
![]()
عَلَىٰ
عَلٰی
ʿalā
on
م-ن
![]()
مَنۡ
مَنْ
man
(those) who
ع-ن-د
![]()
عِندَ
عِنْدَ
ʿinda
(are) with
ر-س-ل
![]()
رَسُولِ
رَسُوْلِ
rasūli
(the) Messenger
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِ
اللّٰهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
ح-ت-ت-ي
![]()
حَتَّىٰ
حَتّٰی
ḥattā
until
ف-ض-ض
![]()
يَنفَضُّواْۗ
یَنْفَضُّوْا ؕ—
yanfaḍḍū
they disband."
ا-ل-ه
![]()
وَلِلَّهِ
وَلِلّٰهِ
walillahi
And for Allah
خ-ز-ن
![]()
خَزَآئِنُ
خَزَآىِٕنُ
khazāinu
(are the) treasures
س-م-و
![]()
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
السَّمٰوٰتِ
s-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
ا-ر-ض
![]()
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
وَالْاَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth,
ل-ك-ن
![]()
وَلَٰكِنَّ
وَلٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ن-ف-ق
![]()
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ
الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(do) not
ف-ق-ه
![]()
يَفۡقَهُونَ
یَفْقَهُوْنَ
yafqahūna
understand.
They are the ones who cry, “Don’t spend anything on those who are with the messenger of God until they have disbanded.” But the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to God, though the hypocrites don’t understand.

ق-و-ل

یَقُوْلُوْنَ

They say,
ل-ا-ن

لَئِن
لَىِٕنْ
la-in
"If
ر-ج-ع
![]()
رَّجَعۡنَآ
رَّجَعْنَاۤ
rajaʿnā
we return
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَى
اِلَی
ilā
to
م-د-ن
![]()
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
الْمَدِیْنَةِ
l-madīnati
Al-Madinah,
خ-ر-ج
![]()
لَيُخۡرِجَنَّ
لَیُخْرِجَنَّ
layukh'rijanna
surely, will expel
ع-ز-ز
![]()
ٱلۡأَعَزُّ
الْاَعَزُّ
l-aʿazu
the more honorable
م-ن
![]()
مِنۡهَا
مِنْهَا
min'hā
from it
ذ-ل-ل
![]()
ٱلۡأَذَلَّۚ
الْاَذَلَّ ؕ—
l-adhala
the more humble."
ا-ل-ه
![]()
وَلِلَّهِ
وَلِلّٰهِ
walillahi
But for Allah
ع-ز-ز
![]()
ٱلۡعِزَّةُ
الْعِزَّةُ
l-ʿizatu
(is) the honor
ر-س-ل
![]()
وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ
وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ
walirasūlihi
and for His Messenger
ا-م-ن
![]()
وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
walil'mu'minīna
and for the believers,
ل-ك-ن
![]()
وَلَٰكِنَّ
وَلٰكِنَّ
walākinna
but
ن-ف-ق
![]()
ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ
الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ
l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(do) not
ع-ل-م
![]()
يَعۡلَمُونَ
یَعْلَمُوْنَ
yaʿlamūna
know.
They say, “If we return to Medina, the more powerful will surely drive the humbler out from there.” But the power belongs to God, and to the messenger of God, and to the believers, though the hypocrites do not know.

ا-ي-ي

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
یٰۤاَیُّهَا
yāayyuhā
O you who believe!
ا-ل-ل-ذ

ٱلَّذِينَ
الَّذِیْنَ
alladhīna
O you who believe!
ا-م-ن
![]()
ءَامَنُواْ
اٰمَنُوْا
āmanū
O you who believe!
ل-ا
![]()
لَا
لَا
lā
(Let) not
ل-ه-و
![]()
تُلۡهِكُمۡ
تُلْهِكُمْ
tul'hikum
divert you
م-و-ل
![]()
أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ
اَمْوَالُكُمْ
amwālukum
your wealth
ل-ا
![]()
وَلَآ
وَلَاۤ
walā
and not
و-ل-د
![]()
أَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ
اَوْلَادُكُمْ
awlādukum
your children
ع-ن
![]()
عَن
عَنْ
ʿan
from
ذ-ك-ر
![]()
ذِكۡرِ
ذِكْرِ
dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
ا-ل-ه
![]()
ٱللَّهِۚ
اللّٰهِ ۚ—
l-lahi
(of) Allah.
م-ن
![]()
وَمَن
وَمَنْ
waman
And whoever
ف-ع-ل
![]()
يَفۡعَلۡ
یَّفْعَلْ
yafʿal
does
ذ-ل-ك
![]()
ذَٰلِكَ
ذٰلِكَ
dhālika
that,
ا-و-ل-ا
![]()
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ
fa-ulāika
then those
ه-م
![]()
هُمُ
هُمُ
humu
[they]
خ-س-ر
![]()
ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
الْخٰسِرُوْنَ
l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers.
Believers, don’t let your properties or your children divert you from remembrance of God; any who do that will be the losers.

وَاَنْفِقُوْا
wa-anfiqū
And spend
م-ن

مِن
مِنْ

from
م-ا

مَّا
مَّا
mā
what
ر-ز-ق

رَزَقۡنَٰكُم
رَزَقْنٰكُمْ
razaqnākum
We have provided you
م-ن
![]()
مِّن
مِّنْ
min
before
ق-ب-ل
![]()
قَبۡلِ
قَبْلِ
qabli
before
ا-ن
![]()
أَن
اَنْ
an
[that]
ا-ت-ي
![]()
يَأۡتِيَ
یَّاْتِیَ
yatiya
comes
ا-ح-د
![]()
أَحَدَكُمُ
اَحَدَكُمُ
aḥadakumu
(to) one of you
م-و-ت
![]()
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
الْمَوْتُ
l-mawtu
the death
ق-و-ل
![]()
فَيَقُولَ
فَیَقُوْلَ
fayaqūla
and he says,
ر-ب-ب
![]()
رَبِّ
رَبِّ
rabbi
"My Lord!
ل-و-ل-ا
![]()
لَوۡلَآ
لَوْلَاۤ
lawlā
Why not
ا-خ-ر
![]()
أَخَّرۡتَنِيٓ
اَخَّرْتَنِیْۤ
akhartanī
You delay me
ا-ل-ي
![]()
إِلَىٰٓ
اِلٰۤی
ilā
for
ا-ج-ل
![]()
أَجَلٖ
اَجَلٍ
ajalin
a term
ق-ر-ب
![]()
قَرِيبٖ
قَرِیْبٍ ۙ—
qarībin
near
ص-د-ق
![]()
فَأَصَّدَّقَ
فَاَصَّدَّقَ
fa-aṣṣaddaqa
so I would give charity
ك-و-ن
![]()
وَأَكُن
وَاَكُنْ
wa-akun
and be
م-ن
![]()
مِّنَ
مِّنَ
mina
among
ص-ل-ح
![]()
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
الصّٰلِحِیْنَ
ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous."
And give of what We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says, “My Lord, why didn’t You let me stay awhile— I would have given charity, and would have been among the righteous.”
