ط-س-م

طسٓمٓ طٰسٓمّٓ tta-seen-meem Ta Seem Meem.

١ ١ (1)

ت-ل-ك

تِلۡكَ تِلْكَ til'ka These

ا-ي-ا

ءَايَٰتُ اٰیٰتُ āyātu (are the) Verses

ك-ت-ب

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ الْكِتٰبِ l-kitābi (of) the Book

ب-ي-ن

ٱلۡمُبِينِ الْمُبِیْنِ l-mubīni the clear.

٢ ٢ (2)

These are signs of the clarifying Book.

28:3

ت-ل-و

نَتۡلُواْ نَتْلُوْا natlū We recite

ع-ل-ي

عَلَيۡكَ عَلَیْكَ ʿalayka to you

م-ن

مِن مِنْ min from

ن-ب-ا

نَّبَإِ نَّبَاِ naba-i (the) news

م-و-س

مُوسَىٰ مُوْسٰی mūsā (of) Musa

ف-ر-ع

وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ wafir'ʿawna and Firaun

ح-ق-ق

بِٱلۡحَقِّ بِالْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi in truth

ق-و-م

لِقَوۡمٖ لِقَوْمٍ liqawmin for a people

ا-م-ن

يُؤۡمِنُونَ یُّؤْمِنُوْنَ yu'minūna who believe.

٣ ٣ (3)

We recite to you truthfully from the story of Moses and Pharaoh, for people who believe.

28:4

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّ اِنَّ inna Indeed,

ف-ر-ع

فِرۡعَوۡنَ فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna Firaun

ع-ل-و

عَلَا عَلَا ʿalā exalted himself

ف-ي

فِي فِی fī in

ا-ر-ض

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ الْاَرْضِ l-arḍi the land

ج-ع-ل

وَجَعَلَ وَجَعَلَ wajaʿala and made

ا-ه-ل

أَهۡلَهَا اَهْلَهَا ahlahā its people

ش-ي-ع

شِيَعٗا شِیَعًا shiyaʿan (into) sects,

ض-ع-ف

يَسۡتَضۡعِفُ یَّسْتَضْعِفُ yastaḍʿifu oppressing

ط-و-ف

طَآئِفَةٗ طَآىِٕفَةً ṭāifatan a group

م-ن

مِّنۡهُمۡ مِّنْهُمْ min'hum among them,

ذ-ب-ح

يُذَبِّحُ یُذَبِّحُ yudhabbiḥu slaughtering

ب-ن-و

أَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ اَبْنَآءَهُمْ abnāahum their sons

ح-ي-ي

وَيَسۡتَحۡيِۦ وَیَسْتَحْیٖ wayastaḥyī and letting live

ن-س-و

نِسَآءَهُمۡۚ نِسَآءَهُمْ ؕ— nisāahum their women.

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّهُۥ اِنَّهٗ innahu Indeed, he

ك-و-ن

كَانَ كَانَ kāna was

م-ن

مِنَ مِنَ mina of

ف-س-د

ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ الْمُفْسِدِیْنَ l-muf'sidīna the corrupters.

٤ ٤ (4)

Pharaoh was in the ascendant on earth; he factionalized its people, overbearing and arrogant toward a minority among them, butchering their sons while sparing their daughters. He was truly an evildoer!

ر-و-د

وَنُرِيدُ وَنُرِیْدُ wanurīdu And We wanted

ا-ن

أَن اَنْ an to

م-ن-ن

نَّمُنَّ نَّمُنَّ namunna bestow a favor

ع-ل-ي

عَلَى عَلَی ʿalā upon

ا-ل-ل-ذ

ٱلَّذِينَ الَّذِیْنَ alladhīna those who

ض-ع-ف

ٱسۡتُضۡعِفُواْ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا us'tuḍ'ʿifū were oppressed

ف-ي

فِي فِی fī in

ا-ر-ض

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ الْاَرْضِ l-arḍi the land

ج-ع-ل

وَنَجۡعَلَهُمۡ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ wanajʿalahum and make them

ا-م-م

أَئِمَّةٗ اَىِٕمَّةً a-immatan leaders

ج-ع-ل

وَنَجۡعَلَهُمُ وَّنَجْعَلَهُمُ wanajʿalahumu and make them

و-ر-ث

ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ الْوٰرِثِیْنَ l-wārithīna the inheritors,

٥ ٥ (5)

We wish to be kindly to those who have been treated contemptuously on earth, and make them leaders and make them the heirs,

م-ك-ن

وَنُمَكِّنَ وَنُمَكِّنَ wanumakkina And [We] establish

لَهُمۡ لَهُمْ lahum them

ف-ي

فِي فِی fī in

ا-ر-ض

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ الْاَرْضِ l-arḍi the land

ر-ا-ي

وَنُرِيَ وَنُرِیَ wanuriya and show

ف-ر-ع

فِرۡعَوۡنَ فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna Firaun

ه-م-ن

وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَهَامٰنَ wahāmāna and Haman

ج-ن-د

وَجُنُودَهُمَا وَجُنُوْدَهُمَا wajunūdahumā and their hosts

م-ن

مِنۡهُم مِنْهُمْ min'hum through them

م-ا

مَّا مَّا mā what

ك-و-ن

كَانُواْ كَانُوْا kānū they were

ح-ذ-ر

يَحۡذَرُونَ یَحْذَرُوْنَ yaḥdharūna fearing.

٦ ٦ (6)

and to empower them on earth, and through them show Pharaoh and Haman and their armies what they had been on guard against.

و-ح-ي

وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ وَاَوْحَیْنَاۤ wa-awḥaynā And We inspired

ا-ل-ي

إِلَىٰٓ اِلٰۤی ilā [to]

ا-م-م

أُمِّ اُمِّ ummi (the) mother

م-و-س

مُوسَىٰٓ مُوْسٰۤی mūsā (of) Musa

ا-ن

أَنۡ اَنْ an that,

ر-ض-ع

أَرۡضِعِيهِۖ اَرْضِعِیْهِ ۚ— arḍiʿīhi "Suckle him,

ا-ذ-ا

فَإِذَا فَاِذَا fa-idhā but when

خ-و-ف

خِفۡتِ خِفْتِ khif'ti you fear

ع-ل-ي

عَلَيۡهِ عَلَیْهِ ʿalayhi for him,

ل-ق-ي

فَأَلۡقِيهِ فَاَلْقِیْهِ fa-alqīhi then cast him

ف-ي

فِي فِی fī in(to)

ي-م-م

ٱلۡيَمِّ الْیَمِّ l-yami the river

ل-ا

وَلَا وَلَا walā and (do) not

خ-و-ف

تَخَافِي تَخَافِیْ takhāfī fear

ل-ا

وَلَا وَلَا walā and (do) not

ح-ز-ن

تَحۡزَنِيٓۖ تَحْزَنِیْ ۚ— taḥzanī grieve.

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّا اِنَّا innā Indeed, We

ر-د-د

رَآدُّوهُ رَآدُّوْهُ rāddūhu (will) restore him

ا-ل-ي

إِلَيۡكِ اِلَیْكِ ilayki to you

ج-ع-ل

وَجَاعِلُوهُ وَجَاعِلُوْهُ wajāʿilūhu and (will) make him

م-ن

مِنَ مِنَ mina of

ر-س-ل

ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ l-mur'salīna the Messengers."

٧ ٧ (7)

And We inspired the mother of Moses, “Nurse him, but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and don’t be afraid or aggrieved, for We will restore him to you, and We will make him a messenger.”

28:8

ل-ق-ط

فَٱلۡتَقَطَهُۥٓ فَالْتَقَطَهٗۤ fal-taqaṭahu Then picked him up

ا-و-ل

ءَالُ اٰلُ ālu (the) family

ف-ر-ع

فِرۡعَوۡنَ فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna (of) Firaun

ك-و-ن

لِيَكُونَ لِیَكُوْنَ liyakūna so that he might become

لَهُمۡ لَهُمْ lahum to them

ع-د-و

عَدُوّٗا عَدُوًّا ʿaduwwan an enemy

ح-ز-ن

وَحَزَنًاۗ وَّحَزَنًا ؕ— waḥazanan and a grief.

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّ اِنَّ inna Indeed,

ف-ر-ع

فِرۡعَوۡنَ فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna Firaun

ه-م-ن

وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَهَامٰنَ wahāmāna and Haman

ج-ن-د

وَجُنُودَهُمَا وَجُنُوْدَهُمَا wajunūdahumā and their hosts

ك-و-ن

كَانُواْ كَانُوْا kānū were

خ-ط-ا

خَٰطِـِٔينَ خٰطِـِٕیْنَ khāṭiīna sinners.

٨ ٨ (8)

Then Pharaoh’s people took him in, to be an opponent and a sorrow to them; for Pharaoh, Haman, and their troops were sinners.

28:9

ق-و-ل

وَقَالَتِ وَقَالَتِ waqālati And said

م-ر-ا

ٱمۡرَأَتُ امْرَاَتُ im'ra-atu (the) wife

ف-ر-ع

فِرۡعَوۡنَ فِرْعَوْنَ fir'ʿawna (of) Firaun,

ق-ر-ر

قُرَّتُ قُرَّتُ qurratu "A comfort

ع-ي-ن

عَيۡنٖ عَیْنٍ ʿaynin (of the) eye

لِّي لِّیْ lī for me

وَلَكَۖ وَلَكَ ؕ— walaka and for you;

ل-ا

لَا لَا lā (Do) not

ق-ت-ل

تَقۡتُلُوهُ تَقْتُلُوْهُ ۖۗ— taqtulūhu kill him;

ع-س-ي

عَسَىٰٓ عَسٰۤی ʿasā perhaps

ا-ن

أَن اَنْ an (that)

ن-ف-ع

يَنفَعَنَآ یَّنْفَعَنَاۤ yanfaʿanā he may benefit us,

ا-و

أَوۡ اَوْ aw or

ا-خ-ذ

نَتَّخِذَهُۥ نَتَّخِذَهٗ nattakhidhahu we may take him

و-ل-د

وَلَدٗا وَلَدًا waladan (as) a son."

ه-م

وَهُمۡ وَّهُمْ wahum And they

ل-ا

لَا لَا lā (did) not

ش-ع-ر

يَشۡعُرُونَ یَشْعُرُوْنَ yashʿurūna perceive.

٩ ٩ (9)

The wife of Pharaoh said, “This is a joy for me and for you; do not kill him. Perhaps he may be useful to us, or we may adopt him as a son.” And they were not aware.

28:10

ص-ب-ح

وَأَصۡبَحَ وَاَصْبَحَ wa-aṣbaḥa And became

ف-ا-د

فُؤَادُ فُؤَادُ fuādu (the) heart

ا-م-م

أُمِّ اُمِّ ummi (of the) mother

م-و-س

مُوسَىٰ مُوْسٰی mūsā (of) Musa

ف-ر-غ

فَٰرِغًاۖ فٰرِغًا ؕ— fārighan empty.

ا-ن

إِن اِنْ in That,

ك-و-د

كَادَتۡ كَادَتْ kādat she was near

ب-د-و

لَتُبۡدِي لَتُبْدِیْ latub'dī (to) disclosing

بِهِۦ بِهٖ bihi about him,

ل-و-ل-ا

لَوۡلَآ لَوْلَاۤ lawlā if not

ا-ن

أَن اَنْ an that

ر-ب-ط

رَّبَطۡنَا رَّبَطْنَا rabaṭnā We strengthened

ع-ل-ي

عَلَىٰ عَلٰی ʿalā [over]

ق-ل-ب

قَلۡبِهَا قَلْبِهَا qalbihā her heart,

ك-و-ن

لِتَكُونَ لِتَكُوْنَ litakūna so that she would be

م-ن

مِنَ مِنَ mina of

ا-م-ن

ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ l-mu'minīna the believers.

١٠ ١٠ (10)

But the heart of the mother of Moses came to be desolate; she almost revealed who he was, and would have had We not strengthened her heart, so she would be one of the faithful.
