15:1

ا-ل-ر

الٓرۚ الٓرٰ ۫— alif-lam-ra Alif Laam Ra.

ت-ل-ك

تِلۡكَ تِلْكَ til'ka These

ا-ي-ا

ءَايَٰتُ اٰیٰتُ āyātu (are) the Verses

ك-ت-ب

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ الْكِتٰبِ l-kitābi (of) the Book

ق-ر-ا

وَقُرۡءَانٖ وَقُرْاٰنٍ waqur'ānin and Quran

ب-ي-ن

مُّبِينٖ مُّبِیْنٍ mubīnin clear.

١ ۟ (1)

A.L.R. Those are signs of the Book, of a clarifying Recital.

15:2

ر-ب-م-ا

رُّبَمَا رُبَمَا rubamā Perhaps

و-د-د

يَوَدُّ یَوَدُّ yawaddu will wish

ا-ل-ل-ذ

ٱلَّذِينَ الَّذِیْنَ alladhīna those who

ك-ف-ر

كَفَرُواْ كَفَرُوْا kafarū disbelieved,

ل-و

لَوۡ لَوْ law if

ك-و-ن

كَانُواْ كَانُوْا kānū they had been

س-ل-م

مُسۡلِمِينَ مُسْلِمِیْنَ mus'limīna Muslims.

٢ ۟ (2)

The scoffers often wish they had submitted to God:

15:3

و-ذ-ر

ذَرۡهُمۡ ذَرْهُمْ dharhum Leave them

ا-ك-ل

يَأۡكُلُواْ یَاْكُلُوْا yakulū (to) eat

م-ت-ع

وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَیَتَمَتَّعُوْا wayatamattaʿū and enjoy

ل-ه-و

وَيُلۡهِهِمُ وَیُلْهِهِمُ wayul'hihimu and diverted them

ا-م-ل

ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ الْاَمَلُ l-amalu the hope,

س-و-ف

فَسَوۡفَ فَسَوْفَ fasawfa then soon

ع-ل-م

يَعۡلَمُونَ یَعْلَمُوْنَ yaʿlamūna they will come to know.

٣ ۟ (3)

let them consume and enjoy, and let hope divert them; for they will come to know.

15:4

م-ا

وَمَآ وَمَاۤ wamā And not

ه-ل-ك

أَهۡلَكۡنَا اَهْلَكْنَا ahlaknā We destroyed

م-ن

مِن مِنْ min any

ق-ر-ي

قَرۡيَةٍ قَرْیَةٍ qaryatin town

ا-ل-ل-ا

إِلَّا اِلَّا illā but

وَلَهَا وَلَهَا walahā (there was) for it

ك-ت-ب

كِتَابٞ كِتَابٌ kitābun a decree

ع-ل-م

مَّعۡلُومٞ مَّعْلُوْمٌ maʿlūmun known.

٤ ۟ (4)

We never destroyed a population that did not have a determined destiny.

15:5

م-ا

مَّا مَا mā Not

س-ب-ق

تَسۡبِقُ تَسْبِقُ tasbiqu (can) advance

م-ن

مِنۡ مِنْ min any

ا-م-م

أُمَّةٍ اُمَّةٍ ummatin nation

ا-ج-ل

أَجَلَهَا اَجَلَهَا ajalahā its term

م-ا

وَمَا وَمَا wamā and not

ا-خ-ر

يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ یَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَ yastakhirūna (can) delay it.

٥ ۟ (5)

No people can go before its time, nor outlast it.

15:6

ق-و-ل

وَقَالُواْ وَقَالُوْا waqālū And they say,

ا-ي-ي

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا یٰۤاَیُّهَا yāayyuhā "O you

ا-ل-ل-ذ

ٱلَّذِي الَّذِیْ alladhī (to) whom

ن-ز-ل

نُزِّلَ نُزِّلَ nuzzila has been sent down

ع-ل-ي

عَلَيۡهِ عَلَیْهِ ʿalayhi [on him]

ذ-ك-ر

ٱلذِّكۡرُ الذِّكْرُ dh-dhik'ru the Reminder,

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّكَ اِنَّكَ innaka indeed, you

ج-ن-ن

لَمَجۡنُونٞ لَمَجْنُوْنٌ lamajnūnun (are) surely mad.

٦ ۟ؕ (6)

They say, “Hey you, the one inspired with The Reminder— you are surely possessed!

15:7

ل-و

لَّوۡ لَوْ law Why

م-ا

مَا مَا mā not

ا-ت-ي

تَأۡتِينَا تَاْتِیْنَا tatīnā you bring to us

م-ل-ك

بِٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ بِالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةِ bil-malāikati the Angels,

ا-ن

إِن اِنْ in if

ك-و-ن

كُنتَ كُنْتَ kunta you are

م-ن

مِنَ مِنَ mina of

ص-د-ق

ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ الصّٰدِقِیْنَ ṣ-ṣādiqīna the truthful?"

٧ ۟ (7)

“Why don’t you bring us the angels, if you are being truthful?”

15:8

م-ا

مَا مَا mā Not

ن-ز-ل

نُنَزِّلُ نُنَزِّلُ nunazzilu We send down

م-ل-ك

ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةَ l-malāikata the Angels

ا-ل-ل-ا

إِلَّا اِلَّا illā except

ح-ق-ق

بِٱلۡحَقِّ بِالْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi with the truth;

م-ا

وَمَا وَمَا wamā and not

ك-و-ن

كَانُوٓاْ كَانُوْۤا kānū they would be

ا-ذ-ا

إِذٗا اِذًا idhan then

ن-ظ-ر

مُّنظَرِينَ مُّنْظَرِیْنَ munẓarīna given respite.

٨ ۟ (8)

We do not send the angels down except for true duty; and in that case those people wouldn’t be given time.

15:9

ا-ن-ن

إِنَّا اِنَّا innā Indeed, We

ن-ح-ن

نَحۡنُ نَحْنُ naḥnu We

ن-ز-ل

نَزَّلۡنَا نَزَّلْنَا nazzalnā have sent down

ذ-ك-ر

ٱلذِّكۡرَ الذِّكْرَ dh-dhik'ra the Reminder,

ا-ن-ن

وَإِنَّا وَاِنَّا wa-innā and indeed, We

لَهُۥ لَهٗ lahu of it

ح-ف-ظ

لَحَٰفِظُونَ لَحٰفِظُوْنَ laḥāfiẓūna (are) surely Guardians.

٩ ۟ (9)

We did send down the Exposition, and We are actually guarding it.

15:10

ق-د

وَلَقَدۡ وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly

ر-س-ل

أَرۡسَلۡنَا اَرْسَلْنَا arsalnā We (had) sent

م-ن

مِن مِنْ min before you

ق-ب-ل

قَبۡلِكَ قَبْلِكَ qablika before you

ف-ي

فِي فِیْ fī in

ش-ي-ع

شِيَعِ شِیَعِ shiyaʿi the sects

ا-و-ل

ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ l-awalīna (of) the former (people).

١٠ ۟ (10)

And We did send messengers before you, among sects of yore;

            فَسَوۡفَ        
        
            فَسَوْفَ        
        
            fasawfa        
        
            then soon        
    
        ع-ل-م    
        
            يَعۡلَمُونَ        
        
            یَعْلَمُوْنَ        
        
            yaʿlamūna        
        
            they will come to know.        
    
            ٣        
        
            ۟
        
            (3)        
    
        م-ا    
        
            وَمَآ        
        
            وَمَاۤ        
        
            wamā        
        
            And not        
    
        ه-ل-ك    
        
            أَهۡلَكۡنَا        
        
            اَهْلَكْنَا        
        
            ahlaknā        
        
            We destroyed
